If you ever wanted your child (or yourself) to learn how to play the piano, let me introduce you to Hoffman Academy!

I was given opportunity to review Learn To Play The Piano In The Comfort Of Your Own Home: Complete Materials for Piano Unit One.

Material Contents that were included in Unit One:
– Music Theory Worksheets & Activity Pages (36 PDF pages)
– Song Sheets with Practice Instructions
Piano Listening CD MP3s
– Practice CD MP3s
– Parent’s Guide

Now, first let me tell you about the Learn to Play the Piano Music Theory Worksheets & Activity Pages.  They are setup so that a child can easily understand in a fun way to learn.  You all know by now, I’m all for any educational product that is disguised to be fun.  Kaiden and I worked on a few activity pages and we both learned our high and low notes and learned the musical alphabet.  We came out learning little more about music.. and we had fun doing it!  It also doesn’t get in the way of our homeschooling schedule as lessons were maybe not more than 10 minutes each day.  It’s something you can do as family time together around the piano (or keyboard).

The Parent’s Guide is an overview of how to be a Daily Practice Partner with your child… even if you do not have any prior musical experience.  Which I thought was helpful because I have no knowledge about piano playing and I will be learning together with my son.

I think its wonderful that Hoffman Academy offers free video lessons to watch and learn.  The free videos certainly fits into any single mommy budget and a great opportunity to learn about music for you and your child.  The free piano lesson videos are quite entertaining to watch and you even get to learn your first song.  Hoffman Academy offer supplemental materials that can be downloaded and printed out.  Although these materials are not required for the lesson to work, I found that the supplemental materials made the whole package complete.  You went into the lessons knowing the musical theory behind the free lesson.  All 41 pages of worksheets and song sheets were designed by Joseph Hoffman to reinforce, expand, and deepen the learning in each lesson and they do just that!

Here is the Piano Lesson One Video:

The free Unit One Lesson Videos, all 20 0f them can be found at https://www.hoffmanacademy.com/lessons/ piano-unit-1/.  You’ll also find Unit 2 and 3 there as well.  These videos are absolutely free, you can view them by registering or even view them as a guest to bypass the registration process.

Mr. Joseph Hoffman has a very impressive bio and would be an ideal choice to have as a piano instructor for you and your child.  He holds a Master of Music degree.  Mr. Hoffman began playing the piano at age 6. He studied with Alfred Mouledous, pianist for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.  Joseph Hoffman also has many credits to his name as a composer, teacher, conductor, and performer.

Overall, Learn To Play The Piano In The Comfort Of Your Own Home: the Complete Materials for Unit One is a fun way to learn how to play the piano.

It’s very well put together for any child and adult to comprehend in the most engaging learning experience possible.  Students can work at their own pace, in the comfort of their own home, to build a foundation for excellent music reading skills and a solid knowledge of music theory.

  1. Regardless of whether a child plays the piano for a short time or for a lifetime, the long-term effects of their piano pursuance are many. Through playing the piano, children are exposed to classical music that they may otherwise have never heard. Kids may develop an appreciation for composers like Bach or Mozart that stay with them for life. In addition, the skills and knowledge they learn in piano may help them easily pick up another musical instrument later.

  2. The more advanced you become on an instrument, you’ll begin to be able to play what you want and however you want.
